Hex N More Triangles and Hexagons

I tried out the Hex N More ruler and made the Candy Dish pillow.  We are carrying the ruler and several patterns in the Viking Sewing Gallery now.

I decided to make a beach quilt because we are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach this July.  Here's what I have so far.  Again I'm using the Hex N More ruler to make these triangles.

This ruler is pretty cool and easy to use.  I am loving triangles and hexagons.

Bibs for Newborns in Need

Over the past couple of weeks I've been working on some bibs for Newborns in Need.  I volunteer with NIN once a month and we put together layette packages for families with newborns in need.  We always seem to be short on bibs, so I was having fun embroidering these cute designs.  I love the little robots.  Troy is really into robots lately so I have several designs.

The little lambs should be nice gifts for Easter.

My 2013 Calendar and a finish from 2012

Here's my cute 2013 calendar that I found back in October at Quilting by the Yard in Vernon, CT.  I had to travel to Hartford, CT for training for work, and we had an extra day to hit some quilt shops.  It was great fun.

And here is my sock monkey quilt that I made for my cousin's little boy Charlie.  It's a twin size quilt, I was planning on having it ready for his birthday in September, but didn't quite get it completed.  So I saved it for Christmas.

I made a stripey back and embroidered a label. I quilted it using horizontal straight lines.

Equilateral Triangles

I started a new quilt using equilateral triangles.  The colors are a little different, but I liked them together.  I'm really liking that pinkish purple color.  I wish I had more of the Riley Blake Andrea Victoria prints (the purple with the dandelion & the dots).  The triangles are easier than I thought to put together.  I think this will end up being a baby quilt.

Some Halloween Shirts

Over the past few weeks I worked on some shirts for the kids for Halloween.  I found these cute applique designs at Planet Applique.  They were fun to make.  And for the bat eyes I used Glowy thread, so they glow in the dark.  Very cool.

A Quilt from Grandma

My Mom (Troy's Grandma) made this quilt for Troy.  He loves tractors, so this is the perfect quilt for him.  My Mom machine embroidered all of the tractors, even putting the little John Deere logo.  She hand stitched the buttons on the wheels.

On the back she used the cute rooster/chicken fabric from the Alexander Henry Farmdale collection.

Troy loves his new quilt.

The Finished Christmas Tree Skirt (Almost)

Here's my Christmas Tree skirt with the binding finished.  I just need to add the buttons and it will be complete.  I'm going to pick up the buttons that you cover with fabric and add them on the edge, probably the large ones, since I made my loops kind of big.

I also embroidered the year on the end.  For my binding this time I machine stitched the whole thing instead of my usual hand stitching.  I used a zig zag stitch which I thought went along with the chevron design.  I think I might do more bindings by machine.
